Describing the War: Zaporizhzhia–Kharkiv–Berlin

On 12 March 2025, we hosted a special evening at the Amerika-Gedenkbibliothek: a staged reading with playwright Anastasiia Kosodii and musician and author Yuriy Gurzhy.

Through moving texts and music, the evening explored the realities of Russia’s war against Ukraine and what it means to live through a time that is already becoming history.

Anastasiia read excerpts from her plays dealing with the Russian war against Ukraine, while Yuriy presented passages from his forthcoming book about life on the front line in Kharkiv and performed several songs live.
